Dr. Katrina Erskine

Dr. Katrina Erskine MD, MRCP, MRCOG

Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist

 

Dr. Erskine is a vastly experienced consultant obstetrician & gynaecologist. She qualified from The Middlesex Hospital, London and undertook her postgraduate training and research in London. She obtained her membership of the Royal College of Physicians having worked in Diabetes, Cardiology and Intensive Care, and did a MD thesis into renal biochemistry changes in pre-eclampsia.

 

Dr. Erskine was a senior consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Barts Hospital (until 2000) and the Homerton University Hospital in East London where she specialised in high risk obstetrics, and also the management of large fibroids, colposcopy, and vulval disease. At the Homerton, where she set up the Diabetic and Medical Complications in Pregnancy clinics, Dr. Erskine was the Associate Medical Director for Surgery, Women and Sexual Health from 2011 to 2018. She continues to run and teach in a regular colposcopy clinic there, as well having some management responsibilities.

 

In her private practice, which she established in 1995, Dr. Erskine provides care for women throughout pregnancy, whether straightforward or complicated, including during delivery and post-natal care, and she treats patients for a wide range of gynaecological conditions.

 

Dr. Erskine is an accredited teaching colposcopist (training other doctors to treat women with abnormal smears and HPV disease) and has had various research interests – these include an MD Thesis on Pre-Eclampsia, fetal monitoring in labour and induction of labour. She has written antenatal care and delivery suite management guidelines that have been used in many hospitals. She is on the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists advisory group for Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and has written extensively on this. She has also written on a woman’s right to choose her mode of delivery.
